Just a quick update for all of the camp parents out there....the Team does not have internet access at the camp so here is a little of what has happened so far.
The campers all arrived yesterday afternoon and had a great evening service and a bonfire.
The kids were able to get in a few outside games this morning before the rain rolled in, but they are still having a good time indoors!
Everyone is looking forward to another great evening service tonight and are enjoying the cooler weather out there.

Tomorrow morning we start putting it all in the trailor.
After nearly 3 full weeks of camp prep (Brooke is tired of Hero Stuff I think :) we finally begin the process of moving all this stuff to the camp tomorrow. Kind of. I was hoping to do set up tomorrow through Saturday, but was told earlier this week that we can't get the facility until Friday. Oh well, we will just move a lot faster. Things are really speeding up as we quickly move to the start of camp.
Fun Times here we come!

Camp Scholarships

I was blown away this weekend by the generosity of an attender at Hope Fellowship.  We have been asking for Camp Scholarships the last several weeks because we have about 10-15 kids who have a true need.
Prior to yesterday, we had Scholarships for about 9 of the kids, and we were not really sure how we were going to decide who would get the scholarships.  (Not really something that I even wanted to think about).  That was prior to yesterday though.  Around 10:30 I got the first of a series of emails from an individual who wanted to know how many kids needed scholarships still.
I told her and she wanted to know how long someone would be at the church.  I told her and she promised to get there as soon as she could.
I waited around the church for about 10 minutes after everyone left and she arrived right when she said she would.
I walked out to the car to greet her and she handed me a check.  I said thank you politely and then looked down at the check to make sure it had Scholarships written on it. (which it did).  It was at that point that I was blown away.  She had written the check for not just one scholarship, but for 5.  All I could say was Thank You so much.
She didn't realize it, or maybe she did, but she was an answer to prayer (both mine and a group of kids who really want/need to be at camp).
God is already orchestrating an awesome camp.

2 weeks

I find it hard to believe that we are only two weeks away from my favorite time of the year.  As a kid's pastor, summers are a bit busy (some times too busy), but there is always one week of the summer that I want to never end.  It is the week of camp.
There are few other environments (if any) where a kids heart and life can be captivated  by the love and awesome power of God.  I know it is only 4 days, but it is 4 days of no distractions.  Imagine an environment where everyone (adults, kids, teenagers) are so excited to come to service each night because they are the entire focus of the week. That is what camp is.
God is going to move.  Please join me in praying for our kids!!

Only 9 days Left to Register

Next Sunday, July 19th is the last day to register for Adventure Quest.  We are at 136 campers right now, and we have space for only a few more.  If you know of someone who is thinking about camp.  Tell them to act quick.  Time is running out.
Speaking of running, Brooke,  Stephen, and I have been running around like crazy this week getting things set up for camp.  We finished the SuperHero Set for the Stage today, and we also completed The puzzles....as you can see this one is a SpiderMan Themed Puzzle.  I am pretty sure that these two interns are a gift from God. There is no way we could be getting all this accomplished without them.  Make sure you say thanks next time you see them.  They are here all summer with us (from Schoolz Out Dayz all the way through Adventure Quest) and they are not being compensated at all.  Sarah and I are feeding them and giving them a place to stay, but they are volunteering hundreds of hours to make our kids summer ministry a success!  The two of them, along with Nathan who went back to West Virginia early this week have been a true blessing.
